Week 2, continued

I have uploaded my flipbook pass from last week, and you can find it here. It's pretty rough, and the timing is off in places, but it conveys the general idea of the shot. I guess.

Also, I have received the critique from my mentor on my planning last week, which was great. He had some good ideas, and helped out a lot, so now all I gotta do is start blocking.

Week 2!

Week 2! Just finished watching my lecture, which was pretty awesome actually. So I guess it's time to start blocking out my shot. I ended up choosing the ball kick assignment, mostly because it seems like the most fun option. Only real problem I'm having with it so far is getting it above the required 100 frames, which really is harder than you would think.

I did a flipbook pass of my planning last week too, mostly to practice drawing with my Wacom, but also because flipbook is a pretty good tool to use in the planning process. I may have gone a little further with it than I needed, but hey, it's fun. Maybe I'll upload it and post it here.

I'm still a little sick too, which sucks, but I'm getting better. One more night of sleep should take care of it, I hope.

Decisions, decisions

Choosing my first assignment for class 2 has proven to be hard. I have filmed reference for both a ball kick and and 180 turn, so obviously I'll end up choosing one of those. I'm pretty sure I'll end up doing the ball kick as it seems like the most fun assignment, though I think i could learn a lot about weight shifts etc if I go for the 180 turn. Bah.

Oh, well. We had our first Q&A with the new class today, and got to meet our new mentor, Josh Book, who seems like a cool guy. Looking forward to learning more from him the next 12 weeks.

Anyways, I have to go and choose my assignment...

Introduction etc.

I've had a couple of blogs by now, but I usually end up discarding them because updating wordpress etc. is boring as hell and I don't want to deal with it. So I decided to do it the easy way. and now, hopefully, I'll keep updating this blog, since all I will have to worry about is writing about what ever I want to write about. Simple, nice.

Anyways.

My name is Kai. I'm a dude from Norway, currently studying animation over at Animation Mentor. This week Class 2 started, and I am extremely excited, we have some great assignments set up for the next 12 weeks. My mentor this term is Josh Book, really looking forward to his critiques this term.

Now, I'll have to go figure out which assignment I'm going to choose for the next few weeks.
